    High Carbon Disc Brake Rotors
LUK Schaffer High Carbon Disc Brake Rotors use OE specifications
to provide exact fit and finish, while providing better
material content to give customers more confidence in the
stopping power of their vehicles. LUK Schaffer High Carbon
Rotors also deliver the maximum density per rotor possible
for silent brake operation. The rotors also provide better heat
transfer for a cooler running brake system, which is fundamental
in reducing brake fade. LUK Schaffer relies
    on rigorous microstructure inspections and
    specialized foundry processes to produce
a rotor that controls the stress more
efficiently to maintain a high level of
    friction consistency. These

  • Rolls-Royce Corniche (Coupe)

The Ghost coupe, which will likely be badged as a Corniche, shares the same powertrain as the standard sedan. This means that under the lengthy hood is a 563-bhp twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V-12 engine, coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Rolls-Royce might opt to squeeze a few extra horsepower from the engine, if only to keep pace with the competition.  The car was spotted on the Nürburgring recently, demonstrating its sporting chops at the same time it was showing off it's impressive patrician nose. Expectations are that, when the new coupe is shown off for real at the Geneva Motor Show in March of next year, that nose will belong to the fastest production car to ever wear the Spirit of Ecstasy.

  • Mosler Raptor GTR (2012) Overview and specs.

Today’s car of the day is the 2012 Mosler Raptor GTR. The Raptor GTR was actually not intended to have a single-unit production run, but according to the press release, "Unfortunately Mosler was pulled into the vortex of the financial downturn and only produced one of its latest products." Unfortunate indeed, because the world needs more 838-horsepower 7.0-litre V8 supercars. With a curb weight of 2580 pounds (1,170 kg), the Raptor GTR has a 649 horsepower-per-ton ratio. Mosler is quick to point out that, while Bugatti boasts 1200hp in the Veyron SuperSport, the car also carries a 4545-lb (2.062 kg) curb weight, resulting in a 528 horsepower-per-ton ratio. The press release also points out that the Raptor GTR builds on the legacy started by previous Mosler products, such as the MT900R, which has "the highest percentage of podiums/start of any manufacturer in FIA sports car racing." So what will this one-off performance exotic cost? Supercar Engineering, which developed the Raptor GTR, and owns the distribution rights, says US$700,000. The interior can be customized to suit the buyer choice, but it remains unclear if said customization is included for that price.

  • 2014 Nissan Altima Quick Overview

The latest conception of Nissan's Altima mid-size sedan provides a fresh look to the interior with latest technology options and a sport-like driving experience. However, the highlight of the Altima that the competition does not have, is its fuel economy - the popular four-cylinder model is estimated at 38 mpg on the highway, an impressive figure previously reserved for smaller cars.

Buyers interested in the Altima should also check out the sporty Mazda Mazda6 and the newly styled Chevrolet Malibu, while the feature-laden Kia Optima is also worth a look. Legends of the mid size sedan category such as the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord also merit consideration.

  • WARNING: Toyota Recalls 2.5 Million Vehicles in the USA

Normally we don't report on boring recall notices, but when it involves 2.5 million Toyota vehicles it's certainly news to consumers. Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of around 2.5 million vehicles for faulty window switches. The automaker says the driver's side power window master switch may develop a sticky or notchy feel during operation and that if owners or technicians apply commercial lubricant, the switch my smoke or even catch fire! The recall covers certain Yaris, RAV4, Tundra, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid,Sequoia, Corolla and Matrix models as well as Scion xD and xA units. All vehicles fall between the model years 2007 and 2009. Over 200 incidents involving the switches have already been reported in the United States alone, though the trouble hasn't caused any accidents or injuries. Toyota technicians will inspect, disassemble and apply special fluorine grease to the switches free of charge. Owners can expect to receive a recall notice starting later this month. The recall only covers U.S. vehicles and does not involve any other Lexus or Scion units. We will keep a close eye on this and how it may affect Canadian Toyota owners.

  • The Cost of Not Changing the Oil - TuneUp 101

Studies have shown that many motorists are putting off regular car maintenance for an average of 1 2 months in order to save money. Most vehicle manufacturers recommend changing the oil every 5000km or every six months, depending on which comes first. There are ways to effectively save money and not damage the car. A few things need to be considered first, the type of driving you do and the quality of the oil and filters. If the majority of driving is done driving to and from work every day (15-20mins) and then parking the car for the whole day is called severe service use. This is harmful as the engine doesn’t reach full operating temperature, so the oil is not hot enough for moisture to evaporate out of. As a result, there could be sludge and deposits which may look like the oil needs to be changed even though it does not have many miles of use. Therefore, if you drive more than 30 minutes every day the engine and oil reaches full operating temperature. As a result, the oil lasts longer as the contaminants and moisture are evaporated. An important piece of equipment to help keep the oil clean is a high efficiency oil and air filter. It is important to have a high quality air filter as 80% to 90% of contaminants come through the air filter. Particles the size of 5 to 20 microns cause the most amount of engine wear, however most economy oil filters can only work down to 50 microns, therefore they miss the majority of the contaminants. However, there is a way to prevent this by using synthetic Nano fiber material for the filters as it works down to less than 10 microns, killing the majority of contaminants. Along with quality oil and air filters comes quality oil. Synthetic motor oils are a good choice as they can extend the drain interval for a lot longer than petroleum oil. Therefore it is possible to save money and take care of a car. It is not about cutting corners, but using high quality products to ensure it lasts the distance.
